Best Water Filters for Las Vegas, Matched to Its Water

Matched to Las Vegas's own record: lead, PFAS, lithium, hard water. Each option names the certification to check. Not a generic “best filters” list.

Step 1 · What Las Vegas's record shows

Four concerns to filter for. Seven other findings detected.

Each card starts from a finding in the published record. The certification is what to look for on the certifier’s listing (NSF, WQA or IAPMO) for the exact model.

What you can do

Relevant treatment: Activated carbon, Reverse osmosis.

Disinfection by-product

Haloacetic acids (HAA5)

Within reference

44ppb · 2025

60 ppb federal MCL

Metal

Copper

Within reference

0.82mg/L · 2025

1.3 mg/L (action level)

Copper is a metal that usually enters drinking water from the corrosion of household copper pipes and brass fixtures rather than from the source water.

What you can do

Relevant treatment: Reverse osmosis, Corrosion-control / pH adjustment, Flushing standing water before use.

Metal

Arsenic

Within reference

0.002mg/L · 2025

0.010 mg/L

Arsenic is a naturally occurring semi-metal that dissolves into groundwater from rock and soil, and can also enter water from mining and legacy agricultural chemicals.

What you can do

Relevant treatment: Reverse osmosis, Anion exchange, Activated alumina / adsorptive media.

Inorganic

Fluoride

Within reference

0.65mg/L · 2025

What you can do

Relevant treatment: Reverse osmosis, Activated alumina / adsorptive media, Distillation.

Inorganic

Nitrate

Within reference

0.5mg/L · 2025

Certified for a concern found here

Eligibility boundary. A product appears only when its registry-verified certification covers a concern in the record. Verify the exact model and contaminant-specific certification before purchase: certification to a broad standard does not mean every contaminant claim under that standard applies to every model.

A product appears here only when a current certification record covers at least one identified concern; every concern stays listed. The retail offer is looked up afterwards and never changes which products appear or their order. As an Amazon Associate, PurityMap earns from qualifying purchases. Affiliate disclosure.

Step 3 · Test first

Know what reaches your glass.

Plumbing inside a home can add lead that the system record can't show. A tap test tells you what reaches your glass.

What this data doesn’t tell youPublic water-system monitoring reflects the system, not the water at an individual household tap at a given moment. Home plumbing, fixtures, storage, sampling location and timing can all change what actually reaches your glass.

Test your own tap

Screening tells you if something is worth a closer look; a lab result is the number you can act on.

Questions

Frequently asked

What water filter do I need in Las Vegas?

Based on the published record: Lead (lead 2.08 µg/L, below the 15 µg/L action level; detected below the limit): if you choose to filter, look for lead-certified carbon filter, or reverse osmosis, certified to NSF/ANSI 53 (lead); PFAS (PFHxA 5.6 ng/L, below the 400000 ng/L state limit (+1 more PFAS detected); detected below the limit): if you choose to filter, look for reverse osmosis, or carbon certified for pfas, certified to NSF/ANSI 58 or 53, with PFHxA/PFPeA named on the listing; Lithium (Lithium 43.3 µg/L, above the 10.0 µg/L EPA health reference level; above a health screening level, not a legal limit): if you choose to filter, look for depends on the contaminant, certified to The certifier's listing for each named contaminant; Hard water (16.4 gpg (very hard); aesthetic): if you choose to filter, look for ion-exchange water softener, certified to NSF/ANSI 44 (softeners). If you choose to filter, pick a model whose certification names each contaminant you want to reduce.

Does "NSF certified" mean a filter removes everything?

No. Certification is per contaminant: a filter certified to NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine taste says nothing about lead or PFAS. Check the certifier's listing (NSF, WQA or IAPMO) for the exact model and the exact contaminant.

Is a pitcher enough for lead in Las Vegas?

A pitcher certified to NSF/ANSI 53 for lead reduces lead in the water you pour through it; replace cartridges on schedule. For a lead service line, replacing the line is the lasting fix; ask the utility about its replacement program.
