You can verify any claim on PurityMap yourself. Every finding links to a dated public record, and this page shows how a claim moves from that record to a published finding — and how to check it.
Every claim traces to a dated public record
PurityMap does not generate measurements. Each finding is derived from a published record — an EPA SDWIS compliance result, a UCMR5 analytical result, or a utility's Consumer Confidence Report — and keeps that record's publisher, sampling date, publication date, unit, reporting limit, and result qualifier attached.
How to verify a finding in three steps
First, open the water-system report for the supplier and find the contaminant. Second, read the finding: its measured value, unit, sample date, the benchmark it is compared against, and its evidence state (for example, detected below the limit, not detected, or not monitored). Third, open the linked evidence record and its source to see the original document, then follow the source's link to the public record itself.
What "verified" means here
A verified finding is one backed by a dated measurement in a public record, shown with the qualifier, reporting limit, sampling location, and benchmark needed to interpret it. We preserve those details rather than reducing a result to a single word. We do not re-test water in a laboratory; we make the public record legible and traceable.
What we cannot verify for you
A public-system record describes sampling at the system, not the water at your specific tap — your service line, building plumbing, and fixtures can change it. We also cannot speak to private wells outside the public dataset, or to substances a utility has not published. Where a record is missing or stale, we say so rather than filling the gap. For your own tap, use a certified laboratory test.
Found a discrepancy?
If a value, date, source, or system attribution looks wrong, submit a correction with the public evidence that supports your report. We review it against the cited source and update the page with a visible modification date.
